Rally and Fundraiser for Rodrick Reed’s birthday
Saturday, August 31, 2019, 4:00 – 10:00 pm

Rodney August 31 Event Flyer

Message from Rodrick Reed, Rodney’s brother:
“August 31st is my 50th birthday. I am inviting everybody everywhere to the Kerr Community Center in Bastrop, TX on Saturday, August 31st at 4pm to celebrate my 50th with food, drinks, music from live bands and a DJ, and most importantly, a rally to save my brother Rodney’s life! We will band together to demand that this retaliatory November 20, 2019 execution date be dropped and that Rodney be freed!

I haven’t been able to celebrate my birthday with my brother Rodney or hug him since 1997. The state of Texas has robbed my brother of over two decades of his life. That is over two decades that Rodney has not been able to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions with the people who love him. He has not hugged or kissed Mama in over two decades. Our brothers. His children. He has never had the opportunity to hug or kiss his grandchildren. A part of us has been locked away for over two decades, and now, the state of Texas is trying to execute him on November 20th for a crime he did not commit. This is all without DNA testing the murder weapon and ALL the crime scene evidence or granting him a new, fair, just retrial.

The only thing I want for my birthday, for Rodney, for my family, is help to #BRINGRODNEYHOMEALIVE ! All I want is for my family to be whole again so we can start our journey to healing. For Mama to be able to hug and kiss Rodney again. For Rodney to be able to live the rest of his life happy and as a free man, enjoying every remaining moment of his life to the fullest. I just want my family to be able to hold Rodney in our arms again.

My 50th birthday event will be a fundraiser for our cross-country trip across the United States, where we’re travelling from Texas to NYC to LA and several key locations in between, connecting with major media outlets every step of the way, to make sure the whole world knows how Texas is trying to kill my brother Rodney despite
1. the medical examiner whose testimony led to Rodney’s conviction in the first place recanted that erroneous statement back in 2012 https://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/news/2012-08-14/bayardo-says-states-case-against-rodney-reed-is-wrong/,
2. despite refusing to DNA test the murder weapon and ALL crime scene evidence, and
3. despite refusing to grant Rodney a fair, just retrial with a jury of his peers and where ALL of his witnesses are called!

Here is a link to our Facebook fundraiser:
https://www.facebook.com/donate/485045355379780/

(What we’re really needing is a drivable motor home with no mechanical issues).

Another way to help us fund our fight for justice while raising awareness about Rodney’s situation is to purchase one of our conversation starter t-shirts: https://www.reedjusticeinitiative.com/shop/

Come celebrate my 50th birthday with my family and me and join us as we fight to save Rodney’s life!”

MARCH FOR RODNEY REED!
Saturday, September 8 at 4PM
Kerr Community Center, 1308 Walnut St., Bastrop, TX
https://www.facebook.com/events/671079399913359/

Rodney Reed is innocent, yet he sits on Texas’ death row.

Jimmy Fennell is very likely a murderer, yet he is free.

In a new addendum to Rodney’s appeal to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Rodney’s defense team outlines how the scientific evidence used to convict Rodney Reed has been *completely debunked* and that ALL of the evidence points squarely to Jimmy Fennell as who killed his fiancé, Stacey Stites.

Fennell was released (on probation) from prison this year after serving 9.5 years of a 10 year sentence for kidnapping, assault and rape while on duty as a police officer in Georgetown, Texas. He will complete probation in September.

At the time of the crime, Jimmy Fennell was the prime suspect. Then and now, a mountain of evidence has made clear that Fennell is the *only person* who could have killed Stacey – and that Rodney Reed is innocent of this crime! The time of death puts Stacey Stites, with her fiancé, Jimmy Fennell, and ONLY Jimmy Fennell. The wrongful conviction of Rodney has not only left the public vulnerable to Fennell’s continued serial violence, but, it has deprived Rodney of his life, and most importantly, denied justice for Jimmy’s victim, Stacey Stites.

PLEASE join us for a community event supporting Rodney Reed, and his family, advocating for the exoneration of Rodney Reed. We will have BBQ, music, and special guests and speakers. We will march for Rodney, and join together to tell Texas officials, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Justice for Rodney Reed – Letter Writing Happy Hour
Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5-8PM at in.gredients (2610 Manor Rd.)

Rodney Reed has been on Texas’ death row since 1998. He was convicted of the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites in the small town of Bastrop, Texas. Stacey’s brutal murder struck at the very heart of the community, not only for its brutality, but for the sinister chain of events it would set into motion. Rodney’s case is a troubling mixture of prosecutoral misconduct, police corruption, poor defense, and institutional racism. Evidence of Rodney’s innocence is overwhelming and the need for a new trial is indisputable.

For more information about this case, listen to Sword and Scale episode 42 and 43, watch the movie State vs. Reed or the A&E special Dead Man Talking.

Bring your friends and come enjoy in.gredient’s patio with us on your way home from work! One letter can go a long way – we want to be sure that our voices are heard. They can’t ignore us any longer.

ONE YEAR LATER: RODNEY REED, STILL NOT FREED
Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 4:00PM, Bastrop, TX.

It’s been one year since the Texas courts issued a stay of execution to Rodney Reed, an innocent man on death row. In that year, the courts have done nothing to correct their injustices while Rodney continues to live in a cage that measures only 60 sq ft, confined alone for 23 hours a day. On the anniversary of last year’s victory, we will remind the small town of Bastrop and the state of Texas that we have not forgotten. Justice for Rodney Reed and Justice for Stacey Stites!

Join Rodney’s family, friends, supporters, and a film crew from A&E for a short march through Rodney’s hometown of Bastrop and a community potluck. We’ll have music, Texas brisket, and a message for the Court of Criminal Appeals: We Demand Justice: Free Rodney Reed!

There will be a carpool for those traveling from Austin to Bastrop. Sign up at https://goo.gl/KN5s4A to become a driver or secure a seat.

Die-In for Rodney Reed

Join us in the West Mall Rally Space  for a die-in action to show our continued support for Rodney Reed!

We will be tabling during the hours leading up to the die-in. At our action we will have a replica of the floor plan of a cell on death row. Those of you who die-in with us will hold posters with messages about Rodney Reed. The rest of you can pass out flyers about our upcoming panel!

Rodney Reed is an innocent man on death row. While the Court of Criminal Appeals has granted a stay to his former execution date of March 5th, Rodney Reed still lives in solitary confinement 24/7, and remains in a 6X10 foot cell for 23 of those hours. This in and of itself is a travesty!

We MUST continue to put public pressure on the CCA in order to tell them that we demand a fair trial, the testing of DNA evidence, and the freedom for an innocent man who has spent over 18 years of his life locked up for a crime that he did not commit!
